The story behind the song
A Boy Like Me, A Girl Like You is a love song that Elvis Presley sang for his 1962 comedy musical movie Girls! Girls! Girls!.
Songwriters Sid Tepper and Roy C. Bennett created this track. They worked with Presley a lot on his movie songs and made several other tracks for the Girls! Girls! Girls! album.
On March 27, 1962, the song was recorded at Radio Recorders’ Studio B in Hollywood, California. This happened on the second day of a three-day session where they were recording songs for the movie’s soundtrack, and it was the last song they taped that day.
Elvis finished the final version in only five attempts, with help from his backup singers, The Jordanaires.
RCA Victor put out the official version on November 9, 1962. It came out as the fourth song on the first side of the Girls! Girls! Girls! soundtrack record (LPM/LSP-2621).
