APPENDIX F 1960s DRUG ABUSE SONGS Songs about drugs were not a new phenomenon suddenly discovered by the Hippie era. There were a few infrequent songs about drugs before the 1960s. Songs like Cab Calloway’s, Reefer Man, and Ella Fitzgerald’s, Whacky Dust, were not on the level of the Hippie Sixties where there was a laundry list of songs worshipping drug abuse.
