FLAMING STAR
Initially, "FLAMING STAR" had four songs, but when Elvis expressed how he wanted to be taken seriously as an actor, two of the songs were removed from the film (probably because the songs’ scenes were silly).

WORKING TITLE
The title song "FLAMING STAR" and "A CANE AND A HIGH STARCHED COLLAR" remained in the film. "BRITCHES" was cut from the movie because they required Elvis to sing it while riding a horse; Elvis thought it looked dumb. "SUMMER KISSES WINTER TEARS" was dropped from the movie when the preview audience laughed at the ridiculous scene where Elvis sang it around the Kiowa's campfire while the tribe's chief accompanied the song on war drums.

FLAMING STAR
The original title for this film was "BLACK STAR." Elvis recorded the title song with the same name but when production changed the film's name to "FLAMING STAR," Elvis re-recorded the song, changing the word "BLACK" to "FLAMING." Elvis's actual recording of "BLACK STAR" was not released to the public until 1991 when it appeared on the Elvis boxed set "COLLECTOR'S GOLD."
