Josh negotiates a deal with Pappy Tatum (played by Arthur O'Connell) to sell one side of his mountain to the government as long as government employees don't trespass on Tatum's side and interfere with Pappy's moonshining. Josh also encounters two country cousins, Azalea Tatum (played by Yvonne Craig) and Selena Tatum (played by Pamela Austin), who compete to win Josh's affection. Josh eventually chooses Azalea and pairs off Selena with his friend Master Sergeant William Bailey (played by Tommy Farrell).
